A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The focal point of the meeting was a directive from Prabowo for ministers to come up with solutions for the affected workers. Among those present were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the pressing need to resolve the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees within a new framework in the textile industry. Minister Yassierli commended the curator for working tirelessly to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to extend support and guidance is anticipated to alleviate the struggles of PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively safeguarding the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive appropriate compensation and other legal entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a revised scheme, with the goal of ultimately rehiring the laid-off workers. This initiative seeks to provide stability to the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
