Prabowo Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses: Impact Analysis

President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his dedication to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by discontinuing the practice of granting bonuses, also known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement of SOE assets over the years. Through Danantara, Indonesia has consolidated these assets and now holds a prominent position in global finance, ranking fifth globally in sovereign funds. Despite this achievement, Prabowo condemned the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially in times of company losses, deeming it unfair. He emphasized the necessity of eliminating these bonuses as part of a broader reform initiative aiming to enhance integrity and professionalism within state-owned firms. Prabowo unequivocally stated that opposition to these reforms would not be tolerated, emphasizing the readiness of numerous young individuals to assume responsibility.
