Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, candidate number 2 for president and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, brought back Annisah, a Female Migrant Worker (TKW) to Indonesia. Annisah was previously stranded in Malaysia because her passport was held by an agent.
Initially, Prabowo received a complaint about Annisah from a mother while visiting his parents’ graves at Taman Makam Karet Bivak, South Jakarta, a day after the election (2/15).
A woman named Eny ran towards Prabowo, screaming and crying, asking Prabowo to help bring back her child who had been working in Malaysia for five years but could not come home.
After hearing Eny’s story, Prabowo asked his personal secretary, Rajif Sutirto, to contact the Chairman of the Red and White Network (JMP), Nanik S Deyang, to bring back Annisah.
Two weeks later, a permit for Annisah to return without a passport from the Malaysian Immigration was issued on Thursday (3/14) and Annisah was able to set foot in her homeland again to meet her mother and child.
Annisah arrived in Jakarta welcomed by the tears of joy of her two children and mother.
“Thank you, Mr. Prabowo, my mother has returned,” said Annisah’s daughter tearfully.
Eny was also moved and thanked Prabowo for successfully bringing Annisah back to Indonesia.
“Thank you, Sir, thank you so much Sir (Prabowo) for bringing my child back to Indonesia,” said Eny.
For Annisah’s return, Prabowo asked Nanik to coordinate with various parties, including Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, to pressure the Malaysian Adnaker to find Annisah’s whereabouts.
On February 19, 2024, Annisah’s whereabouts were finally found, Nanik reported to Prabowo to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and meet Annisah.
After the meeting, it was revealed that Annisah was a legal Female Migrant Worker who was sent from Indonesia through an agent and also used a passport.
Annisah was first placed to work in Singapore in 2018. Less than a year in Singapore, Annisah was moved by her agent to Malaysia.
However, while working in Malaysia, Annisah was placed in a family with many children so besides taking care of her employer’s children, Anisah also had to work to take care of the house. Thus, her working hours were very exhausting, almost 24 hours a day.
Annisah could not bear the burden of excessive work and tried repeatedly to ask the agent who placed her to work to be sent back to Indonesia.
However, the agent ignored her requests. Annisah continued to try to contact her agent to ask for her passport and other important documents that were withheld, it turns out the agent was already bankrupt.
Unable to bear the excessive workload, Annisah eventually ran away from her employer’s house to work elsewhere part-time.
At the same time, Annisah tried to find her personal documents so she could return to Indonesia. Annisah was pressed for money because she had to pay an overstay fine to the Malaysian Immigration totaling RM 3,100.
After Nanik heard the chronology of Annisah’s situation, she could not immediately bring Annisah back to Indonesia.
Nanik then reported back to Prabowo and Prabowo took care of all the necessary arrangements including the administrative costs for Annisah and a ticket back to Indonesia. (SENOPATI)
